Since the early 1990s, the internationally renowned artist duo Korpys/Löffler has been investigating the mechanisms of action of media-mediated images and their staging strategies. An essential motivation of their artistic work is the questioning of the postulated and commonly accepted truth content of these stagings. They counter this with new models of approach. For over 25 years Korpys/Löffler have been concerned with the methods of modern surveillance, the secret workings and official representations of state and institutional power, as well as the challengers of social oppositions and protest culture. Her consistent working methodology is to observe the margins of events and to gather circumstantial evidence in the seemingly incidental in order to be able to discern patterns and power structures behind the superficial.
