Since the years around 2000, the so-called "spatial turn", the shift towards a spatial view of social phenomena, has taken hold of a whole series of social sciences. In recent years, this form of observation has also and in particular been devoted to the city, its conditions of emergence and its structural and social manifestations. In a multi-phase research and study project under the motto "City of Spaces", not only were these different and yet parallel projects of other disciplines investigated, but at the same time they were linked to the findings of contemporary urban planning and architecture.
