Peter Behrens
Continental Hannover
The former Continental administration building in Hanover, now used as the "House of Business Development," was built in 1912-1914 according to plans by Peter Behrens. It occupies an outstanding position in the history of German corporate architecture and in the architect's oeuvre. Nevertheless, the building was little known until now. This was due in no small part to its eventful history, which is now being documented for the first time. This book describes the biography of the building from the first planning idea through the various uses and structural changes to its most recent restoration. And it offers an architectural-historical appreciation of this early major work by Peter Behrens.
