The focus of this study is research on the hitherto little researched development history of Egon Eiermann’s table frames. The work is thus intended to offer a scientific contribution to the history of the development of the so-called Eiermann frames. In this context, design is defined as a variation-generating activity that always tends to change the existing. Design thus stands in a tense relationship to the concept of originality, since each redesign raises anew the question of authorship, which becomes especially critical when the original author of a design is deceased. In the context of this study, legal, aesthetic, material and ideational aspects play a role.
