Kosmos des Fragments
Fotografierte Objekte aus der Antikensammlung Erlangen
In a visual experiment, the volume liberates Greek ceramics from aesthetic preconceptions and museum conventions. Images of fragments - seemingly worthless and often without provenance - have been assembled into a carefully staged sequence of enormous miniatures. It is a radically new look at antiquity: beyond knowledge, myth and ideal, the microscopic view of the photograph carries us off into a cosmos of colors and forms, abstraction and decay. For a brief moment, the unbridgeable distance of countless generations seems to be suspended in the immediacy of the view.
