  • Under the guidance of professors Elisabeth Holder and Gabi Schillig, students investigated various manifestations of jewelry in urban space in seminars and courses. Design and artistic experiments have led to new objects, performative systems, actions, temporary or permanent installations and interventions that transcend the usual definitions of jewelry and relate to urban space. The conceptual structure of the exhibition represents a broad and diverse spectrum of the artistic processes developed to transform urban space in different ways.
The resulting concepts range from site-independent designs grouped under the categories of Material and Inspiration to site-specific and site-related forms of interaction with selected sites and situations categorized as Exploration, Stage, Occasion, and Solicitation. All projects are connected by an analytical investigation of Düsseldorf’s urban space as well as by an experimental approach and diverse media documentation of the resulting works. Through them, our perception of urban space is changed and new urban spaces of interaction and participation are created.
