„Das neue Dortmund“
Das Dortmunder Gesundheitshaus von Will Schwarz
At the end of the 1950s, the city of Dortmund commissioned a building idea that documented the design intent of a new era like no other: the Dortmund Health House. The architect Will Schwarz planned it as a place of health care that combined, among other things, a maternity counseling center, an auditorium, laboratories and other medical facilities. The technical equipment was state-of-the-art. However, Schwarz paid special attention to the well-being of visitors and employees. Large rows of windows and walls made of glass blocks illuminate the rooms, which merge into a total work of art through wall reliefs, furniture and architectural design elements - a building ideal of the time as a holistic concept of architecture, equipment and use.
