Stadt der Räume
The book documents many of the works Peter Stauder has produced on the theme of "city" in recent years. It is part of a multi-year project that critically examines the relationship between power and space. The current volume completes the previous explanations and deals primarily with the production of spaces of the city as forms of power, in which social structures are depicted and relations of domination are enforced.

The book documents many of the works Peter Stauder has produced on the theme of “city” in recent years. It is part of a multi-year project that critically examines the relationship between power and space. Based on the conviction that “space” is nothing given, nothing occurring independently in nature, but a phenomenon produced by man, it is about man’s one-dimensional relationship to nature, the appropriation and shaping of the world under an ultimately unchanging motif. The three previous standpoints referred to the archaic place, the territory, and the landscape as a model. The current volume completes the previous explanations and deals primarily with the production of spaces of the city as forms of power, in which social structures are depicted and relations of domination are enforced. The volume is published on the occasion of the exhibition “Peter Stauder – City of Spaces” at Kunstverein Bayreuth (September 29 – October 29, 2021).
