5 years – 5 books: a series comes to an end. A perfect occasion to celebrate

Veröffentlicht am

Korean born architect Jong-Young Kimm (*1935) travelled Europe for nearly a decade to discover the beauty and power of Romanesque Architecture. The result is a series of five richly illustrated books published between 2020 and 2024. 80 predominantly sacred buildings in Germany, BelgiumItaly, Croatia, Spain, Portugal, France, and England are presented in text and images. The series, written in English and Korean, concludes with a decorative slipcase containing all five volumes.

To celebrate the successful accomplishment and the ceremonial handover of the slip case, we have organized an evening of shows, talks, drinks, and dips.

On November 12, in the presence of the Counselor at the Embassy of the Republic of Korea and Head of the Korean Cultural Center, we will present the series of books, and in conversation with the renown architectural theorist Fritz Neumeyer we hope to get from the author and photographer Jong-Soung Kimm some insights into his work and publications – i.e. whether his long-standing collaboration with Aachen-born Mies van der Rohe has anything to do with his enthusiasm for Romanesque architecture, what experiences from his extensive photo trips have influenced his own architectural work and how the Korean art and architecture scene views European architectural history.

Save the date of the ceremonial closing:

November 12 2024 from 6 to 9
at Papierhalle of Wasmuth Verlag,
Axel-Springer-Straße 43 in 10969 Berlin

Due to limited seatings we kindly ask for registration via Email

A small exhibition will highlight some of the photographed buildings.
